Nicholas & Naima.
In the mountains and forests near where Naima serves as a priestess, Nicholas has stalked the wilds for years, as a rumor as much as a tangible presence - a lone black wolf; a devil horse that carries its riders off into the night; a panther who haunts lost travelers - and little do most credit how safe the forest is from horsethieves, how many travelers find their way home after a 'haunting,' or the unseen things who turn away at the sight or scent of wolf, unwilling to compete with the pack they imagine it belongs to.
Nicholas is wild, but not unkind, taciturn in his human form; able to speak but unlikely to think of it in his beast forms. Naima's first contact with him had shown how lonely he was, starved for touch or affection - and how clumsy he was as a human, unable to consummate the desires he clearly had for fear he would shift in the act when his emotions released. He clearly wanted her, but just as clearly, he was nervous, and retreated sullenly to wolf form, pacing about the mossy clearing and giving her long, mournful looks.
